5 Mariins'ko - Blahovishchens'ka
History of the pogrom
On the evening of October 4 (according to the old calendar), three soldiers and two women entered the courtyard and asked where the Jews lived. They were directed to Max West's apartment. The soldiers began knocking on the door. Fearing violence, the residents opened the door, having first sent the children away. A complete destruction took place, during which a refugee relative was severely beaten and demanded to reveal the location of valuables. The women took everything from the closets and beds. Among other things, they demanded to know if another soldier from their company had been there earlier. Ten minutes later, others arrived with two women and took the rest. They threatened to shoot and demanded to know where the man was.
